If you’ve started a business recently, you’ve inevitably heard about starting an email list. It’s no secret that having an email list is important for your business, and growing it is even more important. So today I want to share 3 reasons why you need to start your email list TODAY (like right now).
1. YOU OWN THE CONTACTS IN YOUR EMAIL LIST, YOU DON’T OWN YOUR SOCIAL MEDIA FOLLOWERS
In this day in age, social media followers are a hot topic. There are ways to buy followers (don’t do this), and COUNTLESS amounts of resources on how to grow your follower list. While I think there is a strong importance in numbers on your social accounts, it’s not as important as the numbers on your email lists. Mark Zuckerberg can decide tomorrow to shut down operations of Facebook, taking your Facebook followers with. Then what?
It’s no secret that Facebook and Instagram have some crazy algorithms, determining who sees what content from you. You can post and post and post, and still not reach all of your audience. How FRUSTRATING. With an email list, you don’t have this problem. Every email you send ends up in your audience’s inbox. There’s power in that, don’t you think?
2. YOU ARE ABLE TO SPEAK DIRECTLY TO YOUR AUDIENCE ON A TOPIC YOU KNOW THEY HAVE INTEREST IN
The beauty of an email list is knowing that the people signed up want to learn more about the topic you are offering. Maybe they signed up for a freebie on how to meal prep, and now they are settled into an email list called “Meal Prep Freebie”. The next time you want to offer some information on meal prepping or nutrition (or something along those lines), you know that the people in your “Meal Prep Freebie” list want to learn more on the topic.
There’s no more pushing information to a wide audience in hopes that someone will take interest in it. You know for a fact that your audience in that list is interested, taking the guesswork out of the whole equation! You can sleep easy knowing your content is landing in the right email inboxes.
3. YOU ARE ABLE TO SERVE YOUR AUDIENCE IN A MORE THOUGHTFUL AND INTIMATE WAY
I know, it sounds crazy calling an email campaign “thoughtful and intimate”, but it’s so true! Think about the emails you receive in your inbox every day. Most likely there aren’t super spammy emails from people and places you’ve never heard of cluttering your inbox. No one wants a pitchy email every day trying to sell them something, so don’t do that! Provide your list with thoughtful and helpful information that will actually bring value to their lives or businesses.
When you do this, you build a more intimate relationship. You are able to touch the lives of your audience and actually make an impact on their every-day. This translates into more sales than you could ever get from Instagram alone.
